Click to understand what a Colonia is? Of the 1,400 Colonias in Texas, 962+ are in Hidalgo County with an estimated population of 140,000 (Federal Reserve of Dallas - 2002). Some of the homes shown in the pixs below do not have electricity.

We are not an organization or an institution of any kind. It is a group of friends that work on this on a regular basis because our heart speaks to us to do so. We use our money to buy the items needed as well as receive donations of items and money from others.
It would be a Blessing if we could get more people to help in the work that needs to be done. Your efforts are at par with those that donate money or items. We need help sorting, packaging and distributing the items.
We go out to the Colonias located on Mile 7 in Penitas called ‘Pueblo Las Palmas’ on the third Saturday of each month to distribute the items listed below. Would you like to join us? Contact form
Items needed - they cost less than $5 ? If you are from out of town, monetary donations to osx001@gmail.com is an option.
- Rice & Pinto beans - $1.46
- Vermicelli/Fideo (2 boxes) - $0.50
- Tomato sauce (2 small cans) - $0.50
- Macaroni (2 boxes) - $0.78
- Vegetables (1 can corn & 1 can green beans) - $1.00
- Top Ramen (2 boxes) - $0.36
